§ Mr. WebbDuring the year 1950 Scotland sent to England about 9,600 tons of lamb carcases and 11,400 tons of beef in addition to 98,351 live cattle and 191,414 live sheep so as to maintain an even ration 169W throughout Great Britain. A proportion of the carcase meat came from fatstock imported into Scotland from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. whilst some of the live cattle sent to England for slaughter also came from Northern Ireland. In the same period some 6.000 tons of imported canned corned meat were issued in Scotland. It is not possible to say how much imported and English-produced canned meat, other than canned corned meat, was supplied in Scotland as the distribution of these commodities is entirely in the hands of private traders.
