HC Deb 14 March 1951 vol 485 c168W
80. Air Commodore Harvey

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that jam, purporting to be strawberry, is being sold in the shops, which, in fact is largely composed of other ingredients; and what steps are being taken to see that the standards of manufacture are being maintained.

Mr. Webb

Enforcement of the standards laid down for jam is a matter for local Food and Drugs Authorities; and I am not aware of any product being sold as strawberry jam which is not made from strawberries or does not contain the required percentage. If, however, the hon. and gallant Member will let me have particulars of the case he has in mind, I shall be glad to look into it.
