HC Deb 13 March 1951 vol 485 c158W
Major Hicks-Beach

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the early delivery of mail at 73, St. James's Street, S.W.1, varies from approximately 8.30 a.m. to 9.15 a.m.; and whether he will take steps to ensure that such delivery is brought up to pre-war standards, namely, 8 a.m., save in exceptional circumstances.

Mr. Ness Edwards

The first delivery to 73, St. James's Street, S.W.1, is due to be made at 8.15–8.30 a.m. which is within the recognised time, namely 9.0 a.m., for completion of the delivery in London. There has been a recent change in staffing arrangements, which has involved the employment of postmen new to the duties, and this has led to delay in delivery. I hope that the earlier delivery time will shortly be restored.
