HC Deb 05 March 1951 vol 485 c22W
115. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the race prejudice which is displayed in clubs, hotels and restaurants, if he will introduce legislation to prevent racial discrimination in Great Britain.

Mr. de Freitas

While I fully share my hon. Friend's view as to the undesirability of this form of discrimination, my right hon. Friend can—as at present advised—hold out no hope of the Government introducing legislation on the matter.
