89. Mr. Wilkes

asked the Minister of Local Government and Planning whether he will state the number of permanent council houses which have been allocated to the City of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1949, 1950 and 1951, respectively; the number of permanent council houses which have been completed during 1949 and 1950, and the number so far completed during 1951; and how many it is thought will be completed during 1951 so far as can be estimated.

Mr. Dalton

The number of houses allocated were 1,040, 1,200 and 1,000 respectively. Of these, private licences were issued for 152, 111 and 49. The number of council houses completed were 381,288 and in 1951 up to the end of May,149.
