asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he can give the figures of submarine losses in peacetime since 1914; and what arrangements are now made to exchange information with the United States of America and other maritime countries, members of the Atlantic Treaty Organisation, concerning construction, the provision of salvage and other safety devices.

Ten British submarines have been lost in peacetime since the First World War. There is the closest liaison with the United States Navy and other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation navies for the exchange of information on all structural factors and equipment affecting safety, escape and salvage arrangements in submarines
