HC Deb 04 July 1951 vol 489 c224W
77. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that an epidemic disease described as vomiting sickness due to malnutrition has broken out in Jamaica; and what steps are being taken to deal with this and its cause.

Mr. Dugdale

There are no cases of vomiting sickness reported at present. Jamaica's current budget includes £10,000 for detailed laboratory investigation of the condition with the co-operation of the staff of the University College of the West Indies.
