HC Deb 02 July 1951 vol 489 c183W
77. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of National Insurance if he is aware that 4s. 6d. of the 5s. weekly increase in superannuation given recently by a trade union is being deducted by the National Assistance Board from their allowance; and if he will take steps to have the full 15s. superannuation disregarded by the Board.

Dr. Summerskill

The extent to which superannuation payments are to be disregarded for purposes of National Assistance is laid down by the National Assistance Act, which prescribes a figure of 10s. 6d.
