HC Deb 02 July 1951 vol 489 c183W
76. Dr. Stross

asked the Minister of National Insurance in which industries workers may develop occupational emphysema.

Dr. Summerskill

Emphysema is common among the population generally. It is not recognised as an occupational disease in respect of any industrial process except in so far as it may occur in association with pneumoconiosis or byssinosis in the processes for which those diseases are prescribed under the Industrial Injuries Act.
