HC Deb 02 July 1951 vol 489 c184W
82. Mrs. Mann

asked the Minister of National Insurance the number of women and men, drawing retirement pensions in Coatbridge in age groups 60–65 years of age and 65–70 years of age; and the number in receipt of supplementary benefits to these pensions.

Dr. Summerskill

The number of retirement pensioners in this area is not known as it is not possible from our records to give this figure by localities. On 29th May last the National Assistance Board office at Coatbridge (which extends beyond the large burgh) were paying assistance, in supplementation of retirement pensions, to about 140 women aged 60–65 and about 310 men aged 65–70.
