§ 24. Sir I. Fraserasked the Minister of Transport whether, in the light of three years' experience of nationalisation, he will institute an independent inquiry into its operation, both as it affects the travelling public and railway workers.
§ Mr. BarnesNo. I do not consider that any such inquiry is necessary. The Central and Area Transport Users Consultative Committees set up under the Transport Act provide machinery for ascertaining and looking after the interests of the travelling public. Railway workers have available full machinery for negotiation and consultation with the Railway Executive.
