HC Deb 02 July 1951 vol 489 c192W
106. Mr. A. Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Government will introduce legislation to limit the profits made by armament manufacturers to the smallest possible margin.

Mr. J. Edwards

Legislation is not required. I can assure my hon. Friend that contracting Departments have all the powers necessary in present circumstances to ensure that profits on Government contracts, including defence contracts, are no more than fair and reasonable. The position is kept under constant review.
