HC Deb 28 February 1951 vol 484 cc294-5W
94. Mr. E. Martin Smith

asked the Postmaster-General if he will give an estimate of the approximate cost of granting free wireless licences to all old age pensioners and all old age pensioners over 70 years of age, respectively.

Mr. Ness Edwards

I understand that there are about 4½ million old age pensioners, of whom about three-fifths are over 70 years of age, but I have no means of estimating how many of these pensioners are wireless lincensees.
