HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 cc246-7W
66. Colonel Clarke

asked the Minister of Transport why, in rejecting the request to extend the speed limit on road A.265 through Burwash, he has refused to meet on the site those most concerned and the hon. Member for East Grinstead.

Mr. Barnes

My decision not to extend the speed limit on this road was based on evidence that the length in question is not in a built-up area and has not in practice proved to be dangerous. This evidence seemed to me conclusive and I did not see how it could be affected by a meeting on the site. If the hon. Member still wishes, however, I will arrange for my officers to meet him and others concerned on the site.
