HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 cc244-5W
55. Major Legge-Bourke

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will call the attention of United Nations to the unsatisfactory working of the Mixed Armistice Commissions in Palestine, with special reference to its inability either to prevent or to deal effectively with the raids recently made by Israeli troops into the Hashemite Kingdom of the Jordan, which cause grievous casualties. and increase the demands already being made upon United Nations relief funds to which His Majesty's Government is a subscriber.

Mr. Ernest Davies

In accordance with the Security Council resolution, sponsored by His Majesty's Government and passed on 17th November, the Chief of Staff of the Truce Supervision Organisation has been requested to report within 90 days on the status of the operations of the various Mixed Armistice Commissions. Until this report is received, I think it would be premature to discuss the matter further ill the United Nations.
