§ 64. Mr. Arbuthnotasked the Minister of Agriculture what was the cost of the administration of the Foul Brood Disease of Bees Order, 1942, under the headings of salaries and wages, office expenses, stationery and travelling expenses for each of the years 1948, 1949 and 1950, for the whole country and for Kent, respectively.
Mr. T. WilliamsI give below an estimate of the cost of administration of the Foul Brood Disease of Bees Order, 1942, under the headings mentioned in the years 1948, 1949 and 1950 in Kent. A similar estimate for the whole of England and Wales would involve detailed investigation of the position in each county, and the time and labour involved would not be justified, but the total costs of administration are in the region of £20,000 a year.
Mr. T. WilliamsMy Department will again this year operate the usual harvest schemes to supplement the seasonal labour recruited by farmers themselves. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour and National Service is arranging for conferences to be held through the year with representatives of the industry and the C.A.E.C.'s to concert action in regard to seasonal labour supplies.
