asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what public works to a value of £5,000 and upwards are now being undertaken by contracting firms in connection with harbours, railways, buildings, etc., in British Colonies; how many of these contracting firms are British; when were the contracts let; and what is their value, respectively.
