HC Deb 05 February 1951 vol 483 cc165-6W
77. Mr. P. Wells

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that, if the 20 per cent. cut in tinplate to the Lady Dane Canning Factory, Faversham, Kent, is not restored, not only will 200 workers lose their jobs, but much food will be wasted; and if he will reconsider the matter.

Mr. Webb

I am afraid that I cannot increase the supply of tinplate for this factory during the present quarter but its supplies during the next quarter when the need will be greater should be much better. I should be glad to discuss the problem of the factory with my hon. Friend if he will get in touch with me.
