§ Mr. Bossomasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what reports he has received from the International Red Cross regarding the food given to British prisoners captured in Korea; and if he is satisfied that this is suitable and adequate.
§ Mr. Ernest DaviesI regret that I can add nothing to the written replies given by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for War on 28th February to the hon. Member for Hornsey (Mr. Gammans), and by my right hon. Friend the Minister of State on 11th June to the hon. and gallant Member for Bristol, North-West (Lieut.-Commander Braithwaite). The International Red Cross Committee has still not received permission to visit prisoners of war camps in North Korea, and I therefore have received no reports from the Committee regarding the food given to prisoners of war.
§ Mr. Bossomasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps are now being taken to ensure the earliest possible release of British prisoners-of-war in Korea.
§ Mr. Ernest DaviesI would refer the hon. Member to the Written reply given to the hon. and gallant Member for Norwood (Brigadier Smyth) on the 30th July.
