HC Deb 19 April 1951 vol 486 c180W
75. Sir S. Holmes

asked the Minister of Health whether he has considered the petition, sent to him on 3rd April and signed by 5,634 residents of the Borough of Harwich, which points out that all expectant mothers are now taken from Harwich to Colchester, nearly 20 miles away, and asking that maternity accommodation may forthwith be provided either in the borough or in the vicinity.

Mr. Marquand

Yes. The need is fully accepted, and for some time the regional hospital board have been looking for suitable accommodation, so far unsuccessfully.
