HC Deb 19 April 1951 vol 486 cc177-8W
Mr. Janner

aked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to give protection to foreign visitors to the Festival of Britain from confidence men or individuals who offer their services as guides for ulterior purposes.

Mr. Ede

The C.I.D. and plain clothes branches of the Metropolitan Police divisions most affected by the Festival of Britain and Festival Gardens are to receive some strengthening in numbers to enable them to deal with any likely activities of confidence tricksters, pickpockets, etc., but it would not be in the public interest to indicate the measures proposed in any detail.
