HC Deb 12 April 1951 vol 486 c105W
94. Mr. Odey

asked the Minister of Food whether he will have an independent inquiry made into the effect of agenised bread, involving the use of nitrogen tri chloride, upon human beings.

Mr. F. Willey

No. This whole question was exhaustively reviewed recently by a special scientific committee, under the chairmanship of the Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of Health, which reported that there was no evidence that the use in bread of nitrogen trichloride had any toxic effect on human beings.
