HC Deb 11 April 1951 vol 486 c75W
58. Mrs. Mann

asked the Minister of Food if he will investigate the extent to which action by the owners of trawlers in restricting, by owners' agreement, the number of trawlers going to sea during defined periods, is creating a scarcity with resultant high prices for fish; and what action he proposes to take to remedy this matter.

Mr. Webb

I think my hon. Friend has in mind the scheme introduced by distant-water trawler owners last September to meet problems created by lack of demand. This scheme has been suspended since 1st January.
