§ 72. Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyreasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what have been the sums received under the Anglo-Italian Payments Agreement for the service of Italian debts to this country to the latest convenient date; and the figure that it is estimated would have been received in the period concerned if the servicing of the debts had not been reduced through the Anglo-Italian Payments Agreement.
§ Mr. GaitskellThe Anglo-Italian Payments Agreement does not prescribe what is to be paid for the service of Italian debts to the U.K. Arrears of principal and interest on Italian sterling bonds due to 15th September, 1947, were paid to United Kingdom bondholders at full contractual rates in accordance with the provisions of the Anglo-Italian Financial Agreement, No. Ill of 17th April, 1947. The rate of service from 16th September, 1947, has been determined by negotiations between the Italian Government and the bondholders' representatives.
