§ Mr. Hylton-Fosterasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will take steps to reduce the inequality in the incidence of rates in respect of land drainage as between the occupiers of hereditaments in the City of York.
Mr. T. WilliamsDrainage boards are autonomous bodies and I have no power to intervene in this matter. The districts of three internal drainage boards extend 125W slightly into the area of the City of York. The determination of the drainage rate in any particular drainage district rests solely on the board for that district, and the level of the rate is related to the amount of work the board intend to do in the district and to the circumstances of the district.
