HC Deb 18 May 1950 vol 475 c169W
Mr. Digby

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why children's homes are inspected by officials of his Department, in addition to the inspections made by the Ministry of Education.

Mr. Ede

Usually, only one inspector visits a children's home. Joint visits are made by inspectors of the Home Office, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education only to residential nurseries in connection with applications by these nurseries for approval as training centres for the certificate of the National Nursery Examination Board.
