HC Deb 23 June 1950 vol 476 cc167-8W
Mr. John Rodgers

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will state the number of petrol ration coupons recently printed; and how much these cost.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

During the three months prior to the end of petrol rationing on 27th May, about four million standard ration books were printed to cover the rationing period June-November, 1950. About 88 million other petrol coupons were also printed during the same period to provide supplementary issues to private motorists and issues for industrial and agricultural vehicles and plant and other miscellaneous purposes. Of these over 1¼ million ration books and a large number of supplementary coupons were issued before 27th May. In addition, some 24 million coupons for issue to operators of goods vehicles were printed by the Ministry of Transport; practically all these coupons were issued. The total cost of printing the books and coupons was about £40,000.
