HC Deb 04 April 1950 vol 473 c129W
100. Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what sum of money will be granted for the improvement of roads and the making of new ones in the seven crofter counties for the year 1950–51.

Mr. T. Fraser

£120,000 has been included in the estimates of the Department of Agriculture for the year 1950–51 for grant-aiding public works in the Highlands and Islands under the Congested Districts (Scotland) Act, 1897. About two-thirds of this sum will be available towards the construction and improvement of township roads under existing and further commitments.
