HC Deb 28 October 1949 vol 468 cc193-4W
Mr. A. Lewis

asked the Minister of Health the total number of units of housing accommodation made available four years after the end of the First World War; and the same four years after the end of the Second World War; showing the number of new permanent houses built in each case; and the same figures for the County Borough of West Ham.

Mr. Bevan

The precise figures asked for in the first part of the Question are not available but I would refer my hon. Friend to my Reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Plaistow (Mr. Elwyn Jones) on 25th February last of which I am sending him a copy. The figures for the four years after the late war are given in the Housing Return for 30th June last. So far as the County Borough of West Ham is concerned, I have no information available regarding the years 1918–22. The figures up to June, 1949, are to be found in Appendix "B" of the Housing Return for 30th June last.
