§ Mr. HardmanInstruction is being provided by local education authorities, the Women's Voluntary Services and other voluntary organisations, supplemented by teaching on more informal lines by hostel authorities. The National Coal Board has provided an intensive full-time course for coal-mining recruits before their dispersal to the coal fields, where further training becomes a matter for the local education authority.
