§ Mr. Wilfred PalingTwenty-two thousand six hundred and forty-nine telephones were installed in 1947, and 17,641 in 1948 in the Metropolitan borough areas south of the Thames. Corresponding figures for 1938 and 1939 are 16,500 and 14,500.
