HC Deb 02 March 1949 vol 462 cc39-40W
8 and 9. Mr. Erroll

asked the Postmaster-General (1) why letters posted in London in time to catch the general night mail are seldom delivered in the Central Manchester area by the first post on the following morning;

(2) why letters posted in Manchester in time to catch the general night mail are seldom delivered in the Central London area by the first post on the following morning.

Mr. Wilfred Paling

I understand this service to be working with satisfactory regularity in both directions, and correspondence posted for the advertised night mail collections is delivered by first post in both Central London and Central Manchester. I shall be obliged if the hon. Member will let me have any evidence he has to the contrary so that inquiry can be made.
