§ 101. Mr. Cuthbertasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the widespread disappointment to members of His Majesty's Police Force that the date from which the increases of salary recently recommended in the Oaksey Report has been determined is 1st July, and not 5th April, the date when the Report was presented; and if he will therefore consider altering this date.
§ Mr. EdeI have no power to provide by regulation for retrospective increases in police pay, and 1st July is the earliest date by which the regulations, and the corresponding Police Pensions Regulations (which require the approval of Parliament) could be brought into effect.
