HC Deb 27 July 1949 vol 467 cc149-50W
Mr. MacLeod

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the recommendation made in paragraphs 158 and 159 by the Scottish Land Settlement Committee, appointed by his predecessor, in their report published in 1945 is likely to be implemented; and why its implementation has been delayed.

Mr. Woodburn

A land survey of the kind recommended in the paragraphs to which the hon. Member refers has already been carried out by officers of the Department of Agriculture and the Forestry Commission in an area of some 400 square miles in Sutherland and Ross and Cromarty and similar surveys in other areas are in hand. While it is hoped to extend this work further the pace at which it can proceed is governed by the availability of technical staff.
