HC Deb 21 February 1949 vol 461 cc236-7W
73. Sir G. Fox

asked the Minister of Transport what representations have been made to him by Henley traders to relax the one-way traffic scheme in Bell Street; what is the reason for his refusal; and if he will consider suspending the scheme after 6 p.m. when there is little traffic, thereby reducing the inconvenience to the local inhabitants.

Mr. Barnes

This scheme is at present experimental. If, after a sufficient trial, there are substantial objections to it, I will hold a local inquiry before deciding whether or not to make it permanent.
