HC Deb 21 February 1949 vol 461 c227W
57 and 59. Mr. Mitchison

asked the Minister of Agriculture (1) how much land in the Kettering rural district is not available for agriculture because it has been used, is being used or is reserved for use for iron-ore working;

(2) how much land in the Kettering rural district is being used for agriculture and for afforestation, after having been worked for iron ore, and restored in the last 10 years; and to what extent the restoration has been satisfactory.

Mr. T. Williams

It is estimated that as a result of iron-ore working some 3,500 acres of land in the Kettering rural district is not in agricultural use. I regret that the other information requested is not available and could only be obtained at a considerable expenditure of time and labour.
