HC Deb 14 February 1949 vol 461 c123W
103. Mr. Wadsworth

asked the Minister of Works if he will consider classifying those established boarding houses with a catering licence as industrial establishments, in order to take advantage of the Government relaxation of policy, where building work can be executed on an industrial building up to a sum of £1,000 without a licence.

105. Mr. Spearman

asked the Minister of Works if he will consider extending the Government concession with regard to building work without permits on industrial premises to boarding houses and hotels in seaside resorts, in view of the fact that catering for holiday traffic is an essential industry in these towns.

Mr. Key

Applications for licences to improve amenities at hotels and boarding houses are considered sympathetically, but I cannot agree to extend to them the concession granted to industrial buildings.
