HC Deb 09 February 1949 vol 461 c68W
99. Mr. Blackburn

asked the Secretary of State for Air what action he has taken to bring to an end the withdrawal of normal leave facilities for Royal Air Force personnel stationed at Leconfield Royal Air Force station, East Yorkshire.

Mr. A. Henderson

Normal leave facilities for R.A.F. personnel stationed at Leconfield were not withdrawn by the commanding officer. Weekend passes for 48 hours or less were, however, withheld by the commanding officer following the removal of a number of official notices from notice boards. Pass privileges have now been restored. Although a large measure of discretion must be vested in the officer who has the task of maintaining discipline at a station, the Air Council deprecate in general the collective withdrawal of privileges where individual responsibility for an offence cannot be fixed.
