HC Deb 02 February 1949 vol 460 c236W
Brigadier Rayner

asked the Minister of Food what amount of suet is made available annually to butchers for distribution to their customers.

Mr. Strachey

Suet is not supplied to butchers as a separate item but as a constituent part of carcase meat supplied to them for the ration and for manufacturing. The quantity of suet in a carcase or a joint varies for a number of reasons and a separate figure of the annual total is not available.
