§ Mr. Cobbasked the Minister of Labour to what extent it has been possible, as a result of recent discussions with the Joint Industrial Council, to improve the situation with regard to the supply of 314W labour in the printing and bookbinding industry, particularly those sections concerned with the production of scientific books and journals.
§ Mr. IsaacsA special sub-committee of the employment and production committee of the Joint Industrial Council has been giving detailed consideration to this matter and the position has since shown some improvement. Both sides of the Joint Industrial Council are also represented on a committee of the Royal Society which has been set up to consider printing problems concerning scientific publications. I am assured that the situation will continue to receive close attention.
