§ Mr. Errollasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he is taking to ensure a resumption of payments between Brazil and Great Britain.
§ Sir S. CrippsThere is no general interruption of payments between Brazil and Great Britain. Within recent months, however, there has been a temporary shortage of sterling in Brazil and some exporters have met with delay in obtaining payment for goods supplied.
242WWe hope that this shortage will be remedied, with the co-operation of the Brazilian Government, in the near future. In the meantime, the Brazilian authorities have announced that all sterling will be distributed by the Bank of Brazil on the basis of chronological order of dates of application.
