§ Sir E. Graham-Littleasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that since 5th July certain hospitals under the National Health Service, an example of which has been submitted to him, have relinquished the practice followed before that date, of sending a trained nurse with ambulances to fetch maternity cases to hospital, and have substituted untrained male attendants; and whether he will issue a directive on this subject.
§ Mr. BevanShortage of nurses makes it impracticable to allocate them in all cases for ambulances. Local health authorities are already aware that hospitals should be called upon to provide a nurse when necessary to accompany a patient.
