HC Deb 09 November 1948 vol 457 cc170-1W
Mr. Ward

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he will give the percentage of marks needed to qualify for a pass in the Civil Service Clerical open examinations during 1946–47; and the percentage of marks required before 1939 for similar examinations.

Mr. Gleuvil Hall

From the normal open competitions for the Clerical Class held in 1946 and 1947, candidates have been declared successful if they secured 44 per cent or more of the maximum marks. From the open competitions for the Clerical Class held in 1937, 1938, and 1939, it was possible to fill all the vacancies without lowering the mark required for success below 58 per cent.
