HC Deb 04 November 1948 vol 457 cc95-6W
Mr. Harold Davies

asked the Minister of Health what schemes have been put before him by the Leek Rural District Council to supply water to the parishes; and what stage towards completion these schemes have reached.

Mr. Bevan

The rural district council submitted a scheme for the parishes of Horton, Longsdon and Endon-and-Stanley in September, 1947. I hope it may be possible very shortly to hold a public inquiry into this scheme; some preliminary information is awaited from the council. On 20th October, 1948, the council forwarded to my Department their consulting engineer's report on a scheme to supply the sixteen parishes of Hollinsclough, Longnor, Sheen, Warslow and Elkstones, Alstonfield, Wetton, Butterton, Grindon, Fawfield Head, Heathylee, Onecote and Ilam, Rushton and Heaton, Bradnop and Tittisworth. The scheme proposed has not yet been adopted by the council or formally submitted to me.
