§ Mr. Sharpasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether there are any standard regulations which much be observed by taxi-cab proprietors who are granted hackney licences by local authorities; and, in particular, whether more than part-time availability of the service is required.
§ Mr. Ede:I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of the model code of bylaws which the Home Office recommends for adoption by the local authorities in urban areas outside the Metropolitan Police district who are empowered to license hackney carriages. The period of availability for hire is not among the matters dealt with in the draft by-laws.
