HC Deb 02 November 1948 vol 457 c53W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the President of the Board of Trade how much cotton stocks are now held; and what was the price, in convenient categories, paid for them.

Mr. Bottomley

Stocks of cotton held in the United Kingdom by the Raw Cotton Commission at the end of September were about 207,000 tons. I cannot give information about the price at which purchases have been made.
