HC Deb 30 January 1948 vol 446 c208W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Food to what extent farmers are free to dispose of potato crops; or whether they are compelled to hold them, pending instructions from the Ministry.

Mr. Strachey

The only potatoes which growers may not now sell to licensed buyers are certain types of long-keeping potatoes held in the Eastern and Northern counties of England and in Scotland for later use and other potatoes covered by contracts for later delivery against instructions to be issued by my Department.
