HC Deb 23 January 1948 vol 446 c74W
Mr. Lennox-Boyd

asked the Minister of Supply whether he will state the order of priority for users of steel.

Sir S. Cripps

I would refer my hon. friend to the statement made on this subject by the Paymaster-General on 10th November, 1947. Priority in steel supplies is now restricted to specific cases where production contributing to the expansion and distribution of fuel and power resources, the development of atomic energy, exports, shipbuilding or import-saving, including agriculture, is held up for lack of a small quantity of steel. Each of these purposes ranks equally for priority.
