HC Deb 10 February 1948 vol 447 c52W
110. Mr. Carmichael

asked the Minister of Supply why priority has been granted for the manufacture of cars for London taxi-owners, while taxi-owners in Scotland are unable to secure supplies which is a serious hardship, particularly to Glasgow taxi-owners as the city magistrates have decided, in the interest of public safety, that all cars built prior to 1937 must be replaced.

Mr. J. Jones

Taxis are obtained from the manufacturers according to the orders placed and no priority has been granted or imposed. Present production is, however, not sufficient to meet the orders from London and Glasgow in full.
