§ 43. Captain Marsdenasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a further appeal for the return of Soviet-born wives and children of British nationals to this country from Russia; and failing such return, intimate to the Russian Government that His Majesty's Government proposes to study the application of the principles of parity and reciprocity in the granting of visas to wives and children of Soviet non-diplomatic staffs.
Mr. McNeilHis Majesty's Government is considering what appropriate and effective measures can be taken to persuade the Soviet Government to allow these wives and children to come to this country.
§ 67. Mr. Sharpasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress has been made in securing U.S.S.R. approval to the reunion in this country of the 6W Soviet-born wives of British subjects; and whether it is now proposed to refer the matter to the United Nations.
Mr. McNeilAs I have already stated in my reply to the hon. and gallant Member for Chertsey (Captain Marsden), His Majesty's Government are considering what appropriate and effective measures can be taken. I have taken note of the suggestion made in the second part of the Question.
